148. In Life There Are Pigeons And Pigeons
|
In London, depending on where you are the pigeons will come in all size, shape and colour. For instance: in Trafalgar Square, they are filthy, weak, crippled with broken wings. Given the impression that they are some refugees from a beach where gallons of oil leaked from a tanker.
Not so far, Neal's Yard in the centre of Covent Garden. This is the health food freak area. From organic beauty to natural healing. The pigeons there are comparatively healthy and happy, though they are orange, yellow, blue, pink and purple. No one has ever admitted to paint them that way, arguing that their colour was due to a healthy organic upbringing.
In the centre of Islington, the pigeons are healthy and overstuffed to capacity. Some can't even fly anymore, unable to drag their potbelly along. Interestingly enough, on nearby Upper Street in the heartland of restaurant society, pigeon seems to feature on some of the menus. Very strange! NP
