Y2K Diary [ 09.03.00 ] 69. Mars, the Red Planet Forget about the Mars Bar and the third month of the year. We're talking about planet Mars. Mars was alive and well when the earth was still silent. According to the legend, the Martians descended to earth to build the Sphinx.  Recent scientific research demonstrates that the Sphinx couldn't have been erected by the Egyptians as it is now dated as far back as 5000 years BC, when human civilisation had barely started.
