To crown the finest P.R. ever, those underground people have
announced Y2K as an 'es
ca
la
to
r-
free' year on the Victoria line.
This means that all passengers, disabled or otherwise, will have to tread along hither and thither to the best of their ability for the same overated price.
This was London Underground supreme commitment to an impressive multimillion pounds investment in refurbishment. What no one could see is any sign of work taking place, thus inducing me to believe that it is both a fantastic P.R. coup and an electricity cost-saving exercise.
